How To Find The Right Pet Friendly Hotels Pets are our best friends both literally and figuratively. We spend a lot of our time with our companions whether dog, cat, or another animal. Most of us want to bring our pets with us when we go on vacation or travel for any other number of reasons.

Finding a hotel that your pet can travel with you to can be difficult though.

At Hotel4U we want to make sure that you find the right hotel. For that reason we have put together a guide on how to find the right pet friendly hotel. Despite the initial appearance of a lack of pet friendly hotels, there are plenty of them out there and you can use this guide to find them.

Check A Chain Hotel

One great way to know a hotel will be pet friendly is to stay at a hotel chain with a pro pet policy. A few chains out there will allow pets in their rooms. Here are a few chains to look at:

  • Best Westerncat

  • Clarion Inns & Suites

  • Comfort Inn & Suites

  • Courtyard Marriot

  • Days Inn

  • Hilton

  • Kimpton Hotels

  • La Quinta

  • Loews

  • Motel 6

  • Red Roof Inn

  • Travelodge

It is important to double check with the specific branch. Some hotels are allowed to set their own policies or might have specific reasons they cannot have pets.

Use A Hotel Search With Pet Friendly

Several hotel booking websites such as Hotel4U allow you to filter your search results for specific amenities or features. One of those filters includes Pet Friendly hotels. When you check this box, it only shows you hotels that are known to be pet-friendly.

That being said, these hotels may still have restrictions that aren’t listed in the list.

Using a hotel search website should be one of your first moves if you don’t want to stay at one of the above listed chains. Not only will you get a feeling for the options that are out there but also might know right away where you want to stay.

Read Hotels’ Amenities List

Often times you can find whether or not a hotel is pet friendly by reading their amenities list. Because a hotel wants to get as many bookings as possible, they list their pet friendly status under amenities. This isn’t true with every hotel but it is with a lot of locations.

We recommend that you check on each hotel’s website instead of using a booking site. The hotel website is more likely to be accurate and up-to-date.

Don’t Forget Other Amenities

Almost anywhere you go will have more than one hotel that is pet friendly. With that in mind it is important that you don’t settle for one hotel out of all of the others just because it is pet friendly. Read all of the amenities of a hotel in order to get the best option out there.

You can use the filtering options on the hotel search page in order to further filter out hotels that might not meet your needs.

Just because you want your pet to go with you does not mean that you should give up on amenities that you want or expect. There is a hotel out there that is right for you.

Cross Check With Pet Websites

A number of pet websites out there exist. One of the most well-known options out there is Bring Fido (http://bringfido.com). Bring Fido is a must for pet owners to help them find places that they can bring their pets. Once you find a hotel that you think you want to stay at, check it on Bring Fido.

Not only will this help to confirm whether or not a hotel is pet friendly. Further, it will let you read reviews from other pet owners who have stayed at the hotel. If there is a red flag for your pet, you will know before you go.

Make Sure You Have A Place To Walkdog in bed

Having a place to walk is important when you bring your pet on vacation. Most hotels, include pet friendly hotels, rarely have a good place for you to walk your pet. Let alone play with your pet.

We recommend taking the time to look at Google Maps or Bring Fido in order to determine where you can take your pet nearby. If you are in a city, chances are you won’t be far from a dog park. More remote locations might require a little more work to find the right place.

If you aren’t able to find a place to take your pet out, you might want to look at another hotel. You could also call the hotel and see if they have any recommendations. Chances are at least one of the people who works there is also a pet owner.

Call To Confirm

Before you book a hotel it is a great idea to call to confirm that they are pet friendly. Policies change and not every hotel is great at updating their policies in a timely manner. This helps to make sure there are no surprises down the road.

A call to confirm will also help you to determine whether or not a hotel has an extra fee in order to have a pet. Hotels will often add a pet deposit to provide extra cleaning for rooms with pets. Knowing beforehand might make a difference in where you choose to stay.

Another thing that you may want to check in on is whether or not the hotel has a policy about leaving your pet in your room. Some hotels require you to bring a crate or similar home for your pet if they are to be left in your room alone. In addition to that, they may have policies about dogs who bark when left alone.

Make Sure To Have Your Paperwork

It is important for your pet to have all of their vaccinations up to date. This helps to keep your pet family healthy. Having copies of all of this paperwork is important and will come in handy in a number of situations.

Some hotels will require to see copies of this paperwork to ensure that your pet will be okay in the room and the room will remain safe for future pets. This is similar to other pet services.

Find Other Things To Do

You want to be able to take your pets with you on the things you do throughout the day. Make sure to check around the hotel for activities and restaurants to go to. Again, you shouldn’t have to leave your pet family out of your adventures.

There are a lot of pet friendly hotels out there. Finding them is what is difficult. Use this list to help you find the right place to stay when you want to bring your pets. Pet friendly hotels are everywhere so you don’t have to leave your friends at home.
